Last day on the klotok

Here we are heading back to kumai. Last night we camped by the bank of the Sekonyer River not far from Camp Leakey. It wasn't as cool as the previous evening but still very pleasant. Probably due to the rain we'd had during the afternoon.
It had started raining just before we arrived at Camp Leakey. Poured while we ate lunch & then drizzled the entire time we were walking through Camp Leakey.
Camp Leakey is very different to Tanjung T, mainly because at Camp Leakey there is the head quarters but also because there are many types of animals hanging around the head quarters. There were jungle pigs, macaque monkeys, a gibbon, a very friendly placid cat, and several orangutans.
However our time in Camp Leakey will always be remembered for our encounter with Siswi, one of the orangutans. She refused to let us up the path to see the feeding and as she is well known for her aggressive biting, we didn't force our way past. Adi ( our guide) too was nervous so we had to wait while he & Dheni coaxed her to move. She then craftily split our group up & then charged forcing Ann, Kyle & Sharon to go up one path who then eventually were forced to bush bash to join the rest of us again. Bybthe time we reached the feeding station, the orangutans were well into into the bananas and milk. It was also so cloudy that the light was much duller than the first stop. We did manage to film Citra talking about Ahmad which was great.
Our group slept as we did the previous night with Ann & Tom with us 3 on one klotok & the rest on the other klotok with the white fellas on the top deck & the indonesians on the bottom.
This morning we chose to return to Camp Leakey so that we could do some more filming in peace without hoards of tourists! Very quiet when we first arrived but eventually the animals appeared and it was awesome having the place to ourselves.
We also survived another encounter with Siswi and also filmed Citra talking about her!
We are now enjoying a long lazy ride back on the klotok back to Kumai but will stop at Tanjung Harapan for lunch and also for souvenir shopping. I am so hoping we see some bekanten on the way.
No sooner had i written that than we stopped to see a large troupe swinging in the trees by the banks, but because i am still writing, i used my camera to take photos rather than risk interfering with this blog! So will upload the best photo later unless we see another group along the way.
